WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Seriously, there’s a lot that goes into these races and we can’t succeed without enthusiastic volunteers like you. And if you’re already planning on attending as a spectator to watch a family member or friend run, this is a great way to see them out on the course while also getting involved!
So what’s in it for you? I’m glad you asked! You get (1) a free water park pass for each day that you volunteer for 3 hours or more [2 passes if you volunteer all day Sunday], (2) a t-shirt, and (3) free food!
Here’s a list of positions and the time commitment for each. Keep in mind that if a job requires 4 hours, but you can only do 2, we’d still love to have you! If you’re ready to help out, email us at email@example.com with your name, contact info, and job/time availability.
Saturday Morning Packet Pickup (6:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) — Check in runners that are picking up their packets and register runners. This is a nice, sit down job, but requires very good attention to detail.
Saturday Evening Packet Pickup (4 p.m. to 7 p.m.) — Check in runners that are picking up their packets and register runners. This is a nice, sit down job, but requires very good attention to detail.
5k Course Marshal (8 a.m. to 11 a.m.) — Make sure the runners stay on the course and cheer them as they pass. This is an outdoor job, so it requires energy and enthusiasm.
5k Water Stop (8 a.m. to 11 a.m.) — Pour water into cups for the runners and make sure all used cups go in the trash. This is a great job for families or groups!
Kids’ Run Course Setup (9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) — Help set up our sticker stations and water stop.
Kids’ Run Course Marshal (9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) — Make sure our young trail runners stay on-course and help with the sticker stations.
Kids’ Run Finish Line (9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.) — Hand out medals and other schwag.
For these long-distance races, there’ll be long periods of time where it’ll just be you and your thoughts and some incredible views. So if you love tranquility and fresh air, this is the perfect position for you! Please keep in mind, you may have to do some hiking to get to your station. We do have ATVs to move people around, but they can’t get everywhere. If you’re interested in one of these jobs, but have a hard time hiking, please just let us know ahead of time so that we can plan accordingly.
Course Marshal (6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) — Make sure the runners stay on course. They get a little woozy after 10 miles, so having course marshals at key spots is crucial despite all of the course markings.
Check Point Marshal (6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.) — Check off runners via bib number at certain points so we have an accurate list of who is where on the course.
Water Stop (6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.) — Keep the stations stocked and let our staff know if you’re running out of supplies. This is a fun job because the runners are SO happy to see you!
